Wincent Pol fought in the November Uprising, was imprisoned for his patriotic activities, and lost his chair in geography at Jagiellonian University. Despite this, he wrote serene poetry, full of love for his native landscape. He was also a pioneer of Polish regional geography and local history. This volume comes from a collected edition of his works, prepared after his death by his family (“Owned and Published by the Family”) and published by F. H. Richter in Lviv. It includes, among other works, “Mohorta,” a rhapsody about an old soldier from the Eastern Borderlands, who served as a model of chivalrous loyalty and duty for generations of readers.

Traces of crayon on the endpapers. Period half-leather binding.
