Gh Niewęgłowski: Arithmetic with the theory of numerical approximations and with notes [1866].

“Arithmetic with the Theory of Numerical Approximations and with Notes” by GH Niewęgłowski is a valuable and rare 19th century mathematical study, published in 1866 in Paris by Karol Królikowski. The publication appeared during the period of the Great Emigration, when the French capital was an important center of Polish scientific and publishing thought.

The work combines a classical lecture on arithmetic with the advanced theory of numerical approximations, providing a bridge between basic mathematical education and more specialized topics. The author’s extensive notes are a valuable supplement to the main argument, providing additional explanations and comments. The publication is a testament to the high level of Polish mathematical thought in the 19th century and to the publishing activities of Polish émigrés in France.
