“Ateneum” (1876–1901) was one of the most important Warsaw-based scientific and literary monthly journals of the Positivist era. In 1883, it was edited by Piotr Chmielowski (from 1881 to 1897), and the publisher was Włodzimierz Spasowicz. Contributors to the journal included Julian Ochorowicz, Bolesław Prus, Aleksander Świętochowski, and Ludwik Krzywicki; it featured articles on philosophy, psychology, history, and literary criticism.

Provenance: on the title page and subsequent pages, a stamp reading “Auszra Library. Riga”; origin not precisely determined.
