About this copy

The trilingual French-German-Polish dictionary by Michał Abraham Trotz (Michel Abraham Trotz, 1689–1769), one of the most important lexicographical works of the Polish Enlightenment. The vocabulary of the three languages has been organized in dictionary format and supplemented with usage examples, terminology from the arts, and grammatical notes. As a result, the work is today a valuable resource for both historians of language and collectors of old dictionaries.

Volume I features a contemporary inscription on the title page; in Volume II, a tear in the title page has been repaired, and there is a contemporary signature on the following page. All three volumes have been bound and professionally conserved at the Introligatornia Antykwariatu Polskiego—the blocks are stable, the pages are firm, and they bear typical signs of age.
