“Ateneum” (1876–1901) was one of the most important Warsaw-based scientific and literary monthly journals of the Positivist era. In 1892, its pages still featured a convergence of Positivist ideas and nascent Modernism. The journal was edited by Piotr Chmielowski, and its contributors included leading historians, philosophers, and critics, such as Julian Ochorowicz and Ludwik Krzywicki.
