In the 1930s, Kazimierz on the Vistula was a center of Polish painting: students and professors from the Warsaw School of Fine Arts came here for plein air painting sessions, and their mentor was Tadeusz Pruszkowski, a painter, the school’s rector, and the founder of the Brotherhood of St. Luke. Jerzy Dzierzbicki, a journalist and local historian, compiled this portfolio as a tribute to the town: 12 plates printed on thick cardboard at the St. Adalbert Printing House in Poznań. The graphic design was created by Edmund John, and the foreword was written by Pruszkowski, who was murdered by the Germans in 1942. The portfolio was published by the author in Radom. The binding consists of wooden covers with engraved and pyrographed decorations.

Set of 12 panels. Some damage to the wooden cladding; slight discoloration on the inside.
