One of the first Polish attempts to describe the history of world trade in its entirety, from antiquity to 1860. The author, Stanisław Gąsiorowski, was a practicing merchant in Warsaw, so he wrote from experience, not just from what he had read. The book was published in 1865 by Gebethner and Wolff, during a period of rapid economic development in the Polish lands, and it provides a good insight into how people thought about trade and international exchange at that time.
