Description

“Praktyczny Kucharz Warszawski” is an extremely valuable publication that focuses on traditional Polish cuisine, containing as many as 1503 recipes for a variety of dishes and baked goods. Published by the well-known Warsaw bookstore Ferdynan Hoesick, it was one of the most popular culinary guides of the turn of the 20th century. The book was created for home cooks and amateur cooks, offering a rich set of recipes for meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, as well as for cakes and desserts.

The authors carefully describe each recipe, providing not only the ingredients, but also detailed preparation instructions, so that even those less experienced in the kitchen will be able to accomplish each dish with ease. The contents also include advice on setting the table and serving lunches, afternoon tea and dinners, both sumptuous and ordinary, as well as recipes for soups, pâtés, dumplings, sauces, fish, various meats, game, poultry, vegetables, desserts, compotes, salads, breads, cakes, cold cuts, jams, juices, liqueurs, tinctures and more. The publication not only preserves the culinary values of the era, but is also part of the tradition of Poland’s gastronomic heritage, providing inspiration for future generations of cooks.
