“The Sweetness of Doing Nothing. Live Life the Italian Way with Dolce Far Niente” is a book about the Italian art of finding pleasure in everyday life. According to the publisher, it describes the southern Italian philosophy of “dolce far niente,” or “the sweetness of doing nothing”: ordinary moments in a café or on the beach, good food, and good company, complete with recipes and tips. The chapters are titled “Introduction,” “Food,” “Family & Friends,” “Leisure,” and “And Finally…,” and the book is illustrated with colorful photographs, many of which were taken by the author herself.

Sophie Minchilli is half American and half Italian, and she lives in Rome. She used to run a blog with her mother and organizes culinary tours of Rome. “The Sweetness of Doing Nothing” is her first book. Bound by our bookbindery, it becomes a gift that will remain in your home library for years to come.

This copy underwent conservation treatment at the Antykwariat Polski workshop. The book block was mechanically cleaned, and the sections were re-sewn by hand, restoring the volume’s structural stability.
