“Evenings on Lake Geneva” is the best-known book by Father Marian Morawski (1845–1901), a Jesuit, professor at Jagiellonian University, and co-founder of *Przegląd Powszechny*. It takes the form of philosophical conversations held on the shores of Lake Geneva, in which the Christian worldview encounters nineteenth-century materialism and positivism. Morawski was one of the pioneers of Neothomism in Poland, and the book sparked a lively debate in both Catholic and secular circles. This second edition was published in 1897 by the W. L. Anczyc and Company printing house in Kraków.

Provenance: On the inside cover, there is a paper bookplate bearing the “W.O. Biernacki-Poray” coat of arms. On the half-title page, the owner’s signature has been smudged with ink.

The pages are in good condition, the cards are clean, and the paper has a slightly dull finish. The binding shows clear signs of wear on the spine and edges.
