Description

“Doręcznik muzyczny” is a fundamental work by Józef Sikorski (1813-1896), an outstanding Polish composer, music critic and pedagogue, who associated his entire career with Warsaw . The publication was published in 1852 by the author, printed by the well-known S. Orgelbrand publishing house in Warsaw .

The book is a comprehensive compendium of 19th century music, written with the needs of the Polish audience of the time in mind. Sikorski, who was hugely influential as an editor and author of numerous musical publications , presents music theory, principles of harmony, counterpoint and musical forms in an accessible manner.
