Description

A comprehensive selection of poetry by one of the most important Polish poets of the twentieth century, including works from various periods of Mieczyslaw Jastrun’s work – an author, essayist and translator whose work occupies an important place in the history of post-war literature. The volume presents a wide spectrum of topics characteristic of his poetry: philosophical reflection on the fate of man, the experience of history, the memory of war, and moral and existential issues.

Jastrun’s work combines classical form with deep introspection, and his poems are among the most recognizable examples of Polish intellectual lyricism of the second half of the 20th century. The collected selection is a representative panorama of his poetic output.

The first edition of 1981 has significant collector value, especially for those building libraries of contemporary literature and collectors of 20th century Polish poetry. Literary Publishing House’s publications from this period belong to a recognizable segment of the antiquarian market.

The copy is carefully bound in a leather binding made in the workshop of the Polish Antiquarian.
