Jan Rymarkiewicz, born in Łobżenica, a participant in the November Uprising, and—after studying in Berlin—a teacher in Greater Poland, compiled *Wzory prozy* as an anthology for teaching style. Level II, intended for upper-grade classes, covers descriptive and narrative prose (memoirs, biographies, historical monographs), scientific and didactic prose, as well as rhetorical prose (parliamentary speeches, sermons, proclamations), featuring texts by Old Polish, Enlightenment, and Romantic authors. The second edition was published in 1863 by Jan Konstanty Żupański, a Poznań-based publisher who supported Polish education in the Prussian Partition.
On the half-title page, the ownership inscription “M.A. Ruszkoscy. Lubiec”; on the spine, the gilded initials “J.W.” Numerous pencil underlines; signs of having been read in school.
Stains and dirt on the paper. The leather binding is heavily worn, and the corners are rounded.
