This first Polish edition of the autobiography of Charles Darwin, one of the most outstanding scientists in the history of mankind, is an extremely valuable document of the era and a rarity on the antiquarian market . The book was published in 1891 by the Warsaw publishing house of the “Weekly Review” in a translation by the eminent biologist Jozef Nusbaum-Hilarowicz .

The publication includes Charles Darwin’s autobiography, in which the scientist describes the development of his mind and character, and a selection of his correspondence, prepared by his son, Sir Francis Darwin . This is the first Polish translation of this work, which was first published in the English original in 1887. The book is an invaluable source of knowledge about the private life and scientific path of the founder of the theory of evolution.
