“Przegląd Lekarski” is one of the oldest and most distinguished Polish medical journals, whose tradition dates back to the mid-19th century. The presented volume III, published in 1864 through the efforts of the Natural and Medical Sciences Branch of the C.K. Krakow Scientific Society, is a testimony to the development of Polish medical thought during the difficult period of the Partitions of Poland. The publication was published by the renowned C.K. Printing House of the Jagiellonian University, edited by a group of distinguished professors Bryk, Dietl, Majer, Skobel and Drs. Oettinger and Zieleniewski.
The volume contains scientific articles, dissertations, clinical reports and reviews from various fields of medicine, reflecting the state of knowledge at the time and the latest developments in European medical thought. The publication is an invaluable source for historians of medicine, researchers of the history of Polish science and collectors of 19th-century scientific prints. Published to this day (intermittently), Przegląd Lekarski remains one of the most important medical periodicals in Poland, and its 19th-century yearbooks are true white ravens on the antiquarian market.
