Description

A publication by Czeslaw Milosz – one of the most eminent Polish poets of the 20th century, winner of the Nobel Prize in literature – dealing with existential, spiritual and historical themes, characteristic of his work. The work is part of the author’s reflection on the condition of modern man, the experience of history and the tension between the sacred and the reality of the world.

The edition is enriched with illustrations by Jan Lebenstein, an outstanding Polish painter and graphic artist associated with the émigré artistic community, whose expressive style gives the publication a special artistic value.

The Paris edition has a special significance as an example of Polish literature published in exile, bearing witness to publishing activities outside the country in the postwar period. Milosz’s work combines philosophical depth with poetic precision of language, and his works occupy a permanent place in the canon of world literature.

A leather-bound copy from the bindery of the Polish Antiquarian, with the utmost care taken to ensure durability and safety for generations.
