Kornel Ujejski is remembered today primarily as the author of “Choral” (“With the Smoke of Fires,” 1846), a religious and patriotic song sung by generations. “Translations of Chopin and Beethoven” reveal him as a poet who attempts to translate music into words: these are lyrical paraphrases of works by Chopin (including the “Funeral March,” referred to here as the “Funeral March”) and Beethoven (Largo, Allegretto). This second, expanded edition (1893) was prepared during the author’s lifetime. The co-bound “Speeches 1863–1893” (third, expanded edition) includes, among other things, a defense speech from the press trial in Lviv, a speech delivered at the unveiling of the monument in Rapperswil, and a eulogy at Artur Grottger’s funeral.

“Zofia Winklerówna” ownership stamp. The pages are intact, the paper is in good condition, and the cloth binding is in very good condition.
