Kazimierz Ostrowski (1848-1880) author of the allegorical sculpture Polonia – a patriotic ideal of the Fatherland, made in 1872, on the 100th anniversary of the first partition of Poland. A collection of poems in which the author addresses the subject of art, creative inspiration and the relationship between sculpture and poetry. Through his poems, the author raises questions about the nature of the artistic process, the relationship between the creator and the work, and the meaning of creation in the context of the modern world.
The book comes from a bibliophilic thematic sub-collection of some 500 specialized titles on Polish painting of the 19th and 20th centuries. A copy in a fine leather binding made in the bindery of the Polish Antiquarian.
