The author analyzes the role of imported works and foreign artists in the Polish artistic environment, examining how the ideals of classicism and romanticism were intertwined in the sculptural realizations of that era. The book includes discussions of the most important works, biographies of the sculptors and the historical and cultural context in which Polish sculpture of the late 18th and early 19th centuries was created.
