Description

A comprehensive selection of poems written in 1932-1945, divided into seven parts. The volume was prepared for publication by the author, proofread by the poet’s friend Jerzy Turowicz. No censorship interference was made. It was one of the first poetry volumes published in Poland after the end of World War II. After Milosz’s decision to remain in exile (1951), the volume Survival was withdrawn from public libraries. Until 1980, no works by Milosz were officially published in the country, with the exception of Moral Treatise published in 1948 in the pages of the monthly magazine ?Twórczość?.
Ocalenie? by Czeslaw Milosz is an extremely important work that reflects the author’s dramatic experiences and deep reflections in the face of World War II. Containing essays and short pieces, Milosz raises questions about identity, faith and the meaning of humanity in a world full of destruction. His emotional prose combines personal experiences with a broad historical context, offering readers a unique insight into the soul of a man on the brink of catastrophe.
Published in 1945, the book has earned its status as a fundamental text in 20th century Polish literature, bearing witness to a time that shaped Polish culture and thought. Its collector’s value lies in its unique reflection of critical moments in history, making it a coveted item on the market.
The elegant, handmade leather binding from the Polish Antiquarian Bindery adds class and prestige to the book, emphasizing its exclusivity. Having “Salvage” in one’s library is not only an investment in literature of the highest order, but also a symbol of commitment to preserving cultural heritage that can be passed down from generation to generation as a precious family treasure.
