Description

First edition of a drama by Stanislaw Wyspianski, one of the most outstanding artists of the Young Poland era. Boleslaw the Bold is a historical drama based on events from the 11th century – the conflict between King Boleslaw II and Bishop Stanislaw. The work combines political tragedy, moral reflection and metaphysical depth, being at the same time a consideration of the fate of the nation, the responsibility of power and the spiritual identity of Poland. By combining history with symbolism, Wyspianski created a work that still impresses today with its strength of language and artistic vision.

First edition in a handmade leather binding of the Polish Antiquarian bookbindery. Perfectly detailed, classic form and historical character make this book a unique collector’s item of great bibliophilic value.

Our items are not just suggestions for collectors – they are beautiful cultural items that combine tradition with artistic craftsmanship.

The book will also be perfect as a unique gift for lovers of Polish literature, theater and national history.
