Description

A co-bound volume comprising two works by Panteleimon Romanov, a Russian writer and satirist known for his keen social observations and ironic view of the reality of post-revolutionary Russia.

Bies constitutes a psychological and moral tale revealing the mechanisms of human passions, moral conflicts and social tensions in a world undergoing rapid change. The author depicts characters caught in the contradictions between ideology, survival instinct and individual conscience, creating a picture of a society undergoing a process of profound destabilization.

The Agitator, on the other hand, shows the reality of political propaganda and the influence of ideology on the life of the individual. Romanov analyzes the mechanisms of social manipulation with characteristic irony, showing the absurdity and drama of the situation in which the individual becomes a tool of the system. The work has a satirical dimension, but at the same time it is an important document of the mentality of the era.

The combination of the two texts in one volume creates a coherent panorama of social and psychological changes of the first half of the 20th century. Co-binding enhances the integrity of the copy and its bibliographic attractiveness.

Today, the interwar editions of the “Rój” outhouse are a recognizable segment of the collector’s market for Second Republic prints. The copy is of interest to both collectors of Russian literature and researchers of the history of political ideas and culture of Eastern Europe in the interwar period.
