The volume includes, among other works, a translation of Shakespeare\u2019s comedy *Much Ado About Nothing* by Apollo Korzeniowski (1820\u20131869), a poet, playwright, and independence activist\u2014and the father of Joseph Conrad. Korzeniowski translated Shakespeare while in exile in Russia, where he was sent after his arrest in 1861; Conrad himself later mentioned \u201cMuch Ado About Nothing\u201d among his father\u2019s translations of Shakespeare. Romuald Podbereski\u2019s journal sought to bring together the academic and literary circles that had become scattered following the fall of the January Uprising.<\/p>\n
