Father Marian Piro\u017cy\u0144ski gave harsh reviews of, among others, \u017beromski\u2019s *The History of Sin*, Na\u0142kowska\u2019s *The Romance of Teresa Hennert*, and Prus\u2019s *Pharaoh*, as well as foreign authors such as Balzac, Goethe, Voltaire, and Zola. The book sparked a heated controversy in the press, to which the author responded with a separate rebuttal.<\/p>\n<p>An interesting account of ideological disputes and the reading culture of the Second Polish Republic.<\/p>\n<p>Provenance: A former handwritten note by the owner on the title page.<\/p>\n<p>The block is intact; all pages are present. The canvas cover is slightly worn at the edges and dusty.
