In 1818, Kazimierz Brodzi\u0144ski published his essay \u201cOn Classicism and Romanticism, and on the Spirit of Polish Poetry.\u201d Calmly and without harsh judgments, he pointed Polish Romanticism toward its own path: folk traditions, simplicity, and the beauty of the native landscape. He became a bridge between Classicism and Mickiewicz\u2019s generation. Volumes V and VI are part of the first posthumous collected edition of his works, \u201csupplemented with writings not previously published,\u201d published by Teofil Gl\u00fccksberg in Vilnius. Volume V (1842) contains this essay and other critical texts (on criticism, satire, and elegy). Volume VI (1843) includes essays on Krasicki, Copernicus, Voronich, Milton, Linnaeus, and Shakespeare.<\/p>\n
