One of the last works by Aleksander Tyszy\u0144ski, an aesthetician, critic, and literary historian, co-founder of *Biblioteka Warszawska* and lecturer at the University of Warsaw. The essays deal, among other things, with Wincenty Kad\u0142ubek, Miko\u0142aj Rej\u2019s *Wizerunek* (1558), the works of El\u017cbieta Dru\u017cbacka, 18th-century Polish comedy, the poetry of W\u0142adys\u0142aw Syrokomla, and the writings of Marcin Bielski and Szymon Starowolski. The book was published in the series \u201cLibrary of the Finest Works of European Literature\u201d by Salomon Lewental.<\/p>\n
The title page and half-title page bear the stamp \u201cFrom the J.W. Zambrzycki Collection, No. 72.\u201d The binding is signed by the bookbinder \u201cA. Sosnarski in Radom.\u201d<\/p>\n
