The Digests were the subject of intensive legal study in the Middle Ages and the early modern period, and Renaissance editions, such as this one from 1550, were used by universities and law schools throughout Europe.<\/p>\n
This copy comes from the Senneton brothers\u2019 printing house in Lyon, which operated under the emblem of the salamander (Ad Salamandrae)\u2014one of the most renowned printers of legal and academic texts during the Renaissance.<\/p>\n
