The novel tells the story of Prince Myshka (in this edition as Nikolai Ivanovich Laskov), the “idiot” of the title, who, despite his naivet\u00e9 and simplicity of heart, becomes a symbol of true humanity in a world of cynicism and selfishness. Dostoevsky portrays with extraordinary sensitivity the prince’s struggles in a society that often rejects what is sincere and authentic. The insightful portraits of the characters and the complex plot encourage reflection on love, friendship and the meaning of life. <\/p>\n
The presented copy comes from the second series of the writer’s works (volumes III-IV) and was translated from the original by Helena Grotowska.
