This fundamental work of Polish botany and phytosociology is the cornerstone of the future Kampinos National Park. Roman Kobendza (1886-1955), an outstanding botanist, professor at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and long-time director of the Botanical Garden in Warsaw, created the first comprehensive monograph on the vegetation of the Kampinos Forest on the basis of many years of field research . This work, together with the “Geographical Study” of his wife Jadwiga Kobendzina (n\u00e9e Kaczorowska), laid the scientific foundation for the establishment of a national park in 1959. <\/p>\n
The book was published in 1930 by the Warsaw Scientific Society as part of the prestigious series “Planta Polonica: Materials for the Polish Flora”, edited by Prof. Boles\u0142aw Hryniewiecki . The publication contains a detailed phytosociological division of the Kampinos Forest, a description of plant communities and their classification, which is still a reference point for researchers today – as evidenced by contemporary scientific literature citing, among others, the *Cladonio-Pinetum Kobendza 1930* complex (pine brushwood). The work describes 254 species of bryophytes, which for years was the basic knowledge base of the area’s brioflora. <\/p>\n
The work is enriched with rich illustrative material: 9 figures in the text, 13 tables and 4 fold-out maps, as well as numerous additional tables. The entire work closes with a comprehensive summary in French (Les Rapports phytosociologiques dans l’ancienne grande Foret de Kampinos). <\/p>\n
