This is the third revised and supplemented edition (editio princeps 1822) of one of the most important works of Polish lexicography of the 19th century – the most extensive and accurate Latin-Polish dictionary at the time . The author, Fr. Florjan Bobrowski (1777-1846), a Jesuit, classical philologist educated in Polotsk, librarian of the Polotsk Academy, and from 1822 parish priest in Niemenczyn, created a work that, following the example of the dictionary of Jacob Facciolati, was an invaluable aid to Polish philologists and students . <\/p>\n
The dictionary was published in Vilnius by and printed by Jozef Zawadzki – one of the oldest and most distinguished publishing houses in the Polish lands. Volume I (A-K) has 2014 pages in double-spaced pagination, volume II (L-Z) – 2007 pages.
