“The Science of Peoples (Ethnology)” is a monumental work by Oskar Peschel, a German geographer and ethnologist, which was one of the most important ethnological studies of the 19th century. In it, the author presents a comprehensive synthesis of knowledge about the cultures of the world’s various societies – from research methods, classification of peoples, social structure, economy, to issues of religion, customs and traditions. The Polish edition of 1876, published by Sp\u00f3\u0142ka Wydawnicza Ksi\u0119garzy in Warsaw, was translated from German and multiplied (supplemented) by Prof. Dr. T. Wis\u0142ocki. This is the first Polish edition of this work, which today is one of the most important sources for the study of the history of ethnological and anthropological sciences.
