“The History of Woman” is a monumental historical synthesis, now rare, written by Jan Cara (owner of Stanislaw Pawel Maci\u0105tek) and published in 1935 by the St. Stanislaw Publishing House in Katowice. The book is an ambitious attempt to show the evolution of a woman’s social, legal and moral position over the centuries – from antiquity to the author’s contemporary times. Tsar, a lawyer and cultural historian by training, draws a panorama of the history of women in Western civilization, analyzing their role in the family, society, religion and politics. <\/p>\n
The work is distinguished not only by the breadth of the narrative, but also by the richness of the illustrative material – 18 plates with reproductions of works of art, historical images and period iconography are a valuable complement to the text.
