Leon Prince Sapieha – one of the most outstanding figures of the 19th century. An outstanding initiator of economic development of the country and a patriot who dedicated his life to the rebirth of the homeland.
In the Memoirs we learn about the fate of the aristocrat from his childhood years coinciding with the Napoleonic wars, through his youth and education in Paris, participation in the November Uprising to his service as, among others, national marshal. Prince Sapieha’s records end in 1863, presumably age and illness prevented him from keeping them further.
